Comparing The
Leading Registry Cleaners
Following on from our comprehensive testing of
the marketing leading registry repair programs, we discovered
that RegCure and Registry Mechanic were the best of them all.
We thought though that it was better to decide on the overall
leader rather than the best two. Thus we undertook some direct
comparison between the two.
-
RegCure – Designed by
ParetoLogic, RegCure
is another leading product from the company that
also produces market leading anti-virus and
anti-spyware software.
-
Registry
Mechanic – Registry Mechanic
is a dedicated tool released by PC Tools; PC Tools
also produce a wide range of products aimed at
maintaining a healthy computer.
Choosing What to
Compare Picking how to compare was
actually very easy, we just installed the programs on our
test computers, and left them to do their work.
Installing
As RegCure and Registry Mechanic are both available as internet
downloads via small files, installation was easy and quick in
both cases.
Registry Scan
Whilst Registry Mechanic was a fraction faster in undertaking a
scan of the Windows registry, RegCure appeared to be the more
thorough in its scan. RegCure identified 337 registry errors,
whilst Registry Mechanic found just 158 registry problems.
Product Features
In the min area of registry cleaner features the two products
were evenly matched, with both products having the important
back-up and restore function, vital in case of a mistake during
the repair process.
In pure number Registry Mechanic has the edge,
but the additional functions were nothing that could not
already be achieved with installed applications within Windows.
This actually meant that RegCure holds the edge when it comes
to memory usage. RegCure can run in the background a lot easier
than Registry Mechanic as it uses less memory to undertake its
work.
Final Impression RegCure definitely has the edge over
Registry Mechanic when it comes to locating and repair registry
issues. RegCure is quick, easy to use and thorough in its work.
RegCure can be downloaded straight
from the internet, and even comes with a version that is
available as a free trial.
