The Windows Registry

The Windows registry is central to many aspects of a functioning computer. Held within the registry is the configuration data required so that installed software and hardware can function as they should. The Windows operating system will constantly review the information held to make individual functions work.

The registry is particularly vulnerable when software and hardware is being uninstalled. Registry entries that should be removed along with the hardware or software are often left behind. The registry entries that remain will often interfere with new or existing software and hardware present on the machine. These entries will get corrupted and just make the registry grow larger without serving any purpose. The larger the registry is, and the more corrupted it is, the longer it takes the Windows operating system to review all of the data. This can result in a slow computer, and also one that displays errors.

This can often lead to a computer that is unworkable. This though is easily avoided though with the use of a good registry repair program, which will fix errors and keep the Windows registry organized.
